This Nut in a Nutshell
Time to Gloat: Currently a full-time student at Indiana University South Bend on a full-ride scholarship, I, Margaret Belt, 19, want to share my experiences, voice my opinions and challenge traditional cultural norms.
I hope to pursue a career as a Forensic Interviewer for minors who were exposed to domestic violence or witness a serious crime, victims of maltreatment, neglect and abuse, both physical and sexual. I plan to finish out my education here at IUSB, where I intend to graduate in 2020, and receive both my clinical social work license and Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Despite growing up in the small town of Nappanee in the boring state of Indiana, I have lived through many different experiences. Some huge, some weird, some unique, but all impacting the person I am today.
About My Personal Life: I am cis female and have always been a heterosexual; however, I am a lifelong ally and currently working on my pronouns and terms to be more politically correct.
I have Bipolar 2 (Commonly known as Manic Depression) which I have now had for over a year. Before being diagnosed, I struggled with an unspecific depression since (at least) 5th grade.
My mother was 47 when I was born and my brother and I grew up without a father. This has dramatically shaped my personal ideology towards marriage, absent parents and single mothers.
I am a survivor of domestic violence, mother of two angel babies, Athel (03/10/12) and Noel (04/15/15), avid couponer, and an inspiring writer.
