For more than four decades, Margaret Byrne, MD, has been helping people achieve and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual health. Currently a physician at CenseoHealth, she obtains medical histories and monitors drug observations for patients with multiple sclerosis. Margaret Byrne, MD’s duties also include conducting physical examinations and reading electrocardiograms. Additionally, she serves as a bereavement counselor for Capital Caring Hospice, providing grief counseling to staff, individuals, and groups.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Byrne held a variety of health and spiritual care positions. For a year, she provided spiritual assessments to families and patients as chaplain fellow at Capital Caring Hospice. She has also served as a volunteer physician for the Spanish Catholic Medical Clinic and as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in private practice. Additionally, Dr. Margaret Byrne worked for more than a decade as a resident teacher at Vajrayogini Buddhist Center, where she was responsible for leading meditation retreats and teaching.
Since earning a BA in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, Dr. Byrne has obtained an MA in dance therapy at New York University and both an MS in physiology and MD at Georgetown University. Since fulfilling an internship in family medicine and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology, she has completed a residency and internships in chaplaincy and pursued teacher training in Kadampa Buddhism.
