Lekaj is backed by 15 years of experience in various financial and leadership spaces; including: public sector budget management, operations leadership, grants management, fund accounting, and capital project oversight.
Originally from Montenegro, Margarita Lekaj immigrated to the United States at twenty-three years old. Lekaj not only learned how to speak English, but also went on to pursue higher education — and build a foundation for a career in commercial banking. Lekaj climbed the corporate ladder at Bank of New York and JPMorgan Chase; eventually being recognized as a Top 10% Branch Manager.
Margarita Lekaj is a firm believer in the benefits of receiving a postsecondary education. While working full-time and raising three children, Lekaj obtained her MBA from SUNY New Paltz in 2020, and her Certificate in Education from Georgetown University. In addition to these degrees, Lekaj completed the (SDBL) Program at The College of Saint Rose and graduated with a 4.0 GPA, and received (ASBO) Leadership Certification.
