Ever since I was a child and saw a community theater production of The Music Man, I was hooked. From the moment those fast-talking salesmen chanted out an entire scene of dialog to the rhythm of a steam train, I had fallen in love with musical theater.

That love of musical theater brought me out of my naturally shy shell and taught me how to sing and dance – figuratively if not literally – through my life. That love led me to other loves: great friends, collaborators, and teachers, who cheered me and led me on my way. A sweet, smart, and funny character actor-turned-stage manager who became my husband and the father of our two boys. New York City, Broadway, and the stages of Walt Disney World. I have loved them all, and have been honored to be a part of some of the most amazing entertainment events you could ever imagine. I directed large productions of musicals in New York City, had a hit off-Off Broadway late-night zany comedy, wrote and directed revues for summer stock in Pennsylvania, stage managed operettas in Connecticut, was on the opening team of Finding Nemo The Musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and was in charge of the operations of the enormous pyrotechnic spectacular, Epcot’s IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. And, proudest of all: together with Eric Rockwell and Bill Brooke, I created a musical based on the novel A Little Princess, which will be produced in its world premiere production in April, 2013.

I am thankful – and amazed – that I make a living working in the performing arts, something I always secretly dreamed of doing, never really intended on pursuing, and barely dared to believe would be possible. Yet here I am, writing and directing musicals. My blog (alittleprincessthemusical.wordpress.com) documents that journey: the ideas, the process, the inspiration, and the lessons I learn as I continue to practice my craft.
