Marguerite R. Billbrough, M.D.
Marguerite R. Billbrough, M.D., and her colleagues at the Center for Sight of Delaware County treat a number of eye conditions. These include astigmatism, a refractive problem that leads to blurriness of vision. Astigmatism is caused by the weight of the upper eyelid, healed corneal lacerations, changes in corneal shape, and blunt eye trauma. The Center for Sight’s doctors also treat corneal abrasion, which occurs when the clear part of the eye gets scraped or scratched. Dr. Marguerite R. Billbrough also helps with dry eyes, a common disease that can result from underproduction of or quick evaporation of tears. The treatments include artificial tears, prescription medicines, and environmental control.
Marguerite R. Billbrough, M.D., also offers general eye exams, which she recommends patients schedule annually. Regular eye exams enable an ophthalmologist to evaluate many eye conditions in the early stages, including lazy and crossed eyes. If these conditions are caught early enough, they can be corrected. Additionally, the exams include an introductory interview, external examination, pupil inspection, eye muscle health check, visual field, visual acuity, and more. Furthermore, Dr. Marguerite R. Billbrough may provide consultations for cataract exams. The Center for Sight’s doctors also perform cataract surgeries.
To become an ophthalmologist, Marguerite R. Billbrough attended Georgetown University School of Medicine, earning her M.D. in 1986. She finished her internship at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Afterwards, she completed a residency in ophthalmology at Washington Hospital Center in the nation’s capital. She specialized further through a fellowship in cornea and external disease at Georgetown. Dr. Marguerite R. Billbrough certified with the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She then joined an eye surgery center in Maryland.
