María Peña has been a bilingual journalist for 30 years, covering the Hispanic community, politics, immigration, trade, and foreign policy, among other topics. She recently came onboard as a bilingual public affairs specialist for the Library of Congress, where she´ll help broaden outreach to the Spanish-speaking world. Throughout her career, she has worked for many outlets, including Telemundo, La Opinion, EFE, UPI, and Univision, and she has been a regular panelist or moderator of events organized by many advocacy groups, academic and political institutions. Her work has gotten national recognition by LULAC, NAHP, and El Tiempo Latino. Besides her passion for politics and good storytelling, her interests include photography, music, movies, reading, and food.
