Journalist, stoic. Mad about Europe, Eastern Europe and all things sociopolitical. Moonlighting as a writer. Compulsive questioner.
Since 2004, I've held various editorial positions with the Bulgarian News Agency, Glamour and other national media outlets in Bulgaria. I began my career covering art, science and human interest topics before graduating to global health, inequality, social justice, crime & safety.
I studied Cultural Anthropology at Sofia University, specialised in Journalism & Media Studies at Ithaca College, New York, and National Geographic HQ in Washington, DC. She holds an MSc in Criminology & Criminal Justice from Oxford University, having been awarded one of the inaugural Weidenfeld Scholarships.
I publish in Bulgarian and English, freelancing on socio-political topics for Euronews, The Economist, Kultura, etc.
In 2010 I was awarded First Prize in the International Media Contest by Addicted2Life Project (co-sponsored by the Directorate-General Justice, Freedom and Security of the European Commission) for reporting on contemporary drug use among women.
My TEDx talk on the need for sex education in Bulgarian schools is one of the most watched from the region on YouTube.
My February 2014 Letter to a Young Ukrainian, published by Euronews went viral and was republished and translated in four languages.
