How I Started

In the 5th grade I realized that I naturally wanted to check in on my friends and see how life outside the schoolyard was for them. I used to hold little group sessions in the grass at lunchtime and when someone had a problem at home I would work to get the group to give feedback. I did not know the title “Marriage and Family Therapist”, but I knew I wanted to help people feel better. From that age on I never knew anything different for myself. I continued to hold that vision for myself until I learned what I really needed in order to see that dream come true, thus becoming a licensed MFT.

Who I Have Worked With

I have been working with clients since 2001 in a variety of settings. I have seen clients of all ages; including adults, couples, young children and their families, adolescence and their family, and Transitional Age Youth (High School and college age) and their families.

How I can help

Many times in life, we can get past or deal with things on our own, but in other circumstances we may need a little extra help. This is where talking to someone can be useful. I use a holistic approach in therapy encompassing compassion and collaboration. If you think I can be helpful, please don’t hesitate to contact me so we can work together to find the best solutions to what you are facing. I look forward to speaking with you.

Education

I graduated with a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree from San Diego State University in 2005. I went on to get my hours in therapy and apply for licensure. I was licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in 2007. I am fully trained in EMDR by the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) organization and Francine Shapiro, the founder of the therapy. I hope to go on to be certified in the approach, which would put me on a list to be called in order to help victims when catastrophic events occur. I was trained in depth in grief therapy during and internship with San Diego Hospice in 2004 and have applied that training in all of my therapeutic settings since then. I am also an active member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CALMFT).
