Maria Haymandou

Maria Haymandou is a lawyer in Brooklyn, New York. Maria attended Fordham University, most known as the university in which acclaimed celebrities like actor Denzel Washington and musician David Copperfield attended. After she graduated in 2001, Maria entered the New York Law School and graduated in 2005.

Ever since she graduated, Maria Haymandou has been working as a District Attorney for all of her hometown, Brooklyn, in Kings County. Her role includes duties such as leading a staff of prosecutors (or assistant district attorneys), and prosecuting crimes against state or local ordinance, managing the prosecutor's office, investigating all alleged crimes, and filing criminal charges or bringing evidence before the Grand Jury.

In addition to her passion for law, Maria Haymandou has several other interests, including working out. Her favorite trainers are Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper, both known for NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” weight-loss reality television show. Maria believes that both Jillian and Bob are both excellent motivators. In addition to watching and being inspired by the show, Maria has picked up a few videos on kickboxing and mixed martial arts. She thoroughly enjoys them, and frequently works out in her apartment after coming home from work.

Being of Greek descent, Maria Haymandou loves to eat the Greek foods she has grown up with. She's learned to prepare traditional Greek dishes, including spanakopita, gyros, and apáki. Though she loves the food of her descent, Maria also enjoys cooking "American" meals such as pork dishes, rib roast, hamburgers, and pizza. She’s taken to exploring and purchasing cookbooks from famous American chefs like Ina Garten.

Books are also among one of Maria's favorite things to talk about, and she frequently browses the Amazon book section for new reads. She is a big fan of fantasy, mystery and historical fiction. Some of her favorite authors include John Connolly, most famous for his “Charlie Parker” novels, Neil Gaiman and Justin Cronin.

In addition to her fitness, cooking, and reading interests, Maria Haymandou is also passionate about animals. She and her husband regularly donate to the ASPCA in New York City. They also own an energetic Jack Russell terrier named Chloe.
