Mariah Espada
Audience Engagement Editor in Brooklyn, New York
About Me
I’m Mariah, a founding engagement editor at Healthbeat, a new nonprofit newsroom covering public health. I specialize in building and executing digital-first strategies for newsrooms to engage and grow their audience. I was previously an editorial audience fellow at Axios, and a reporter at TIME, where I also contributed to their social video initiative.
My passion project @HoodHistoryHere aspires to preserve the history of New York City's gentrified neighborhoods. I previously co-hosted and co-produced a podcast about the journeys of other media professionals.
In 2020, I graduated from American University in Washington D.C. with a degree in journalism. During my undergraduate career, I interned in various newsrooms including CNN, CBS News and Voice of America.
