Mariah Young

journal, writer, and Editor in Atlanta

Hi ! My name is Mariah Young, and I’m a passionate and driven Sports Journalist currently studying Public Relations and Journalism at Clark Atlanta University.

I’ve had the privilege of gaining handson experience through my work with HBCU ELITE under Dr. Tara Turner, where I managed social media platforms, edited interviews, and created engaging content tailored to diverse audiences. This opportunity strengthened my storytelling skills and deepened my understanding of digital media strategy and audience engagement.

In addition, I serve as a Journalism Intern for Clark Atlanta Athletics, where I cover cross country, football, and basketball seasons. This experience has allowed me to blend my love for sports with my writing, capturing stories that highlight the dedication, drive, and heart of student-athletes.

Outside of journalism, I proudly serve as Miss 1935 on the Royal Court for the National Council of Negro Women, where I advocate for empowerment, leadership, and service among women in my community. Balancing academics, athletics, and leadership roles has shaped me into a well-rounded communicator who values authenticity, collaboration, and the power of storytelling.

I am currently in Atlanta, Georgia and I’m always looking to connect, collaborate, and create with others who share a passion for media, storytelling, and positive impact !
