María José Cornejo M.

Canterbury, Kent, Uk

I'm a PhD candidate of the Erasmus Mundos Joint Doctorate in Global and Cultural Criminology at the University of Kent, UK and Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest.

Before starting my PhD I worked as a Senior Analyst at the Department of Political Studies of the Salvadoran Foundation for Social and Economic Development, conducting analysis on electoral politics, political parties, and security policy. Briefly after that, I worked as a fellow for the campaign of Emmanuel Pleitez for mayor of Los. Angeles.

Prior to my work in El Salvador I completed an M.A. in International Public Policy from Tsukuba University in Japan, completing my thesis on populism in the Philippines, a case study of structural and political factors behind the victory of Joseph Estrada.

I was working for Compassion International supporting the director's office after graduating with a double Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business Management from the University of the Ozarks, AR.
