Mariam Satour is an Embroidery & Fiber Artist based in Cairo, Egypt.

She graduated with a first class honors from the Faculty of Applied Arts, majoring in Advertising and Graphic Design, and worked for several years in the Advertising and Branding fields in different local and multinational agencies.

She’s always been very fond of arts and crafts from a very young age, as a kid she was constantly drawing, painting and making things.

Introduced to needle point embroidery at the age of 13 during a summer break, then she spent years exploring different forms of embroidery and practicing more to hone her craft as an artist.

In 2018, after more than 6 years in the Advertising field, she decided to make the change she’s always been dreaming of and pursue her passion for embroidery professionally, so she started her own embroidery business.

She’s known for her contemporary style in stitching, finds her inspiration in modern art, botanicals, historical textiles, movies and books. She believes that embroidery is a very powerful medium, it enables her to translate her ideas and concepts in a very flexible way, with the huge variety of materials, techniques and the way she gets to combine them together always results in an endless pool of visual possibilities

Now she spends most of her time at her home studio, stitching and creating, she works on commissions and makes DIY embroidery kits for new learners.
