A highly accomplished businesswoman with extensive experience in the global corporate sphere, Maria O'Reilly established Marilana Properties, LLC, a Hawaii-based company through which she owns and operates luxury commercial properties in Honolulu, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Prior to founding Marilana Properties, Maria O'Reilly spent a productive 10 years with MPEG LA, a prominent licensing firm located in Denver.
Joining MPEG LA as an Executive Assistant to the CEO shortly after the enterprise's launch, she implemented a number of key organizational changes that included restructuring the Royalties department for the purpose of simplifying patent royalty collection and retooling the information technology division, a move that resulted in a more secure data system and company-wide gains in communication. Recognizing an opportunity to boost staff engagement, Ms. O'Reilly worked in close collaboration with MPEG LA's Human Resources arm to perfect recruitment practices and heighten the overall level of employee satisfaction. Maria O'Reilly earned several major promotions before ending her tenure at MPEG LA, most notably serving as Chief Operating Officer of the firm's U.S. and UK operations.
Maria O'Reilly entered into the professional arena when she accepted a post as Executive Assistant to the President of Daiei, USA, in Honolulu. A subsidiary of Daiei, Inc., one of Japan's largest supermarket chains, the company provided Maria O'Reilly with a solid foundation for her next career venture as a Software Designer for Sharp Electronics in Yamato-Koriyama, Nara, Japan. Prepared to pursue new challenges after many years in Japan, Ms. O'Reilly relocated to Geneva, Switzerland, and was subsequently offered a contract with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, initially stepping in as Assistant to the Acting Director of Energy. She later functioned as Assistant to the Acting Director of Industry at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe leading up to her employment with MPEG LA.
A former model who gained fame as the face of Japan Airlines Co. Ltd. (JAL), Maria O'Reilly is a recreational surfer, avid home cook, and patron of the arts. A devoted mother, Ms. O'Reilly enjoys traveling internationally whenever her schedule allows, citing Thailand, Turkey, Spain, and Ireland as her favorite destinations.
