Maria Smith is a former Division I University of Illinois Chicago basketball player. She started out as a TV producer at ESPN, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and others. Her current label is storyteller, which shows up as freelance writing, consulting and creating content.

Maria is a volunteer middle school and AAU basketball coach and the Holy Innocents Youth Basketball League director in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the mother of four athletes participating in volleyball, cross country, football, basketball, tennis and track.
