Hey there, I’m Maride. I'm from San Antonio, Texas and am currently a freshman at UT Austin. If you click "watch my reel" you can see the short film that I made called "The Closet" which I submitted to college when applying to film school. This film brings awareness to the LGBTQ+ community and within the film you will see a ghost lurking in the scene. This is to signify the depression and anxiety felt by the young boy to succumb to the pressures of society. During my High School experience, I advocated for many different organizations. I even felt so strongly about menstrual equity that I began a club at my school called "Rattlers for PERIOD." Within this club, I would hold a donation drive for feminine hygiene products then send packages full of them to women within our local refugee center as well as the local homeless shelter. The club even did so well that I was invited to attend PERIODcon in NYC and write a column for Teen Vogue magazine which you can check out here: https://www.teenvogue.com/story/period-taboo-around-the-world
