Marie Parson

Southampton, England, United Kingdom

I am a 21 year old film enthusiast, currently in my final months studying Writing Fashion and Culture in Southampton, UK.

After spending the majority of my childhood growing up in the quiet market town of Boston, I moved down south to further my knowledge of journalism after learning about the different areas of media at college.

Whilst studying fashion journalism I have gained a key interest in film through my boyfriend who is an aspiring scriptwriter. Combining my passions has inspired many pieces of my work, particularly my blog: 'Clothes and Clapperboards'.

I thoroughly enjoy the more realistic side to cinema and coming-of-age movies are my go-to genre. The Breakfast Club, Boyhood, The Way Way Back and The Perks of Being a Wallflower are a few of my favourites, although the list could go on and on.

Opposing to that I also have a darker side that adores the horror genre. From The Shining to The Babadook I am willing to watch anything that is written to scare, its my guilty pleasure.

Although I have favourite genres I really do enjoy movies in general. As a regular cinema-goer, I decided to put the writing skills I have developed through my degree to practice and am now the weekly film reviewer for an online blog, 'Topical Pops.'

I believe if you do something you love you'll never have to work a day in your life - and I love film and writing.
