Those are words of wisdom coming from Ms. Marilyn Chia’s parents when at the age of the 18, she dreams of nothing but to become a concert pianist. To become an Educator is actually a last thought of her mind. But now, at the age of 26, armed with Trinity-Guildhall Grade 8 Certification in Piano, a Specialized Diploma in Teaching and Learning from National Institute of Education and with 8 years of teaching experiences, Ms. Marilyn Chia has taught music appreciation lessons, early childhood music education courses and piano to all different walks of life, with her main focus on teaching piano to young children age 4 years and above.

She is currently pursuing a Music Diploma from Trinity-Guildhall and hopefully to attend more professional development courses to widen her knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Music Education and Piano Pedagogy. Being a modernist, she doesn’t limit understanding and learning Music to just “Classical Music”, she encourages her students to be more open-minded with Music by allowing them to be more exposed to all different genres of Music. Her ultimate goal is that through her teaching, to be able to reach out to young children with special needs, more so especially when she is still currently teaching a young child with Autism.
