Marilyn Zayfert
Digital Marketing, Business Development, and Business Enterprise in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA
Marilyn Zayfert is a Brooklyn-born digital marketing strategist and business development pro based in New York (and parts of LA). She’s the founder and president of illumiNET Media — a consultancy helping nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and cultural institutions build brands, boost engagement, and drive measurable growth across social, web, AI, and even grant-writing channels.
She also brings marketing into academia as an adjunct instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY FIT), teaching "Applications of Social Media." That hands-on role comes with praise (and a few critiques) from students — who describe her style as “fun, bouncy and nice,” with a class heavy on assignments, less on tests.
Before founding illumiNET in 2009, Marilyn built deep industry chops — including managing multimillion-dollar contracts at Roche Diagnostics and pioneering employer engagement programs at United Activities Unlimited.
Key highlights:
Founder & President, illumiNET Media (since 2009) — over 100 clients served in digital strategy, branding, web enhancement, social presence, AI prompts, and grant writing
Adjunct Instructor at FIT, Course: Applications of Social Media .
Past roles include Senior Account Manager at Roche Diagnostics and Assistant Director of Workforce Development at United Activities Unlimited
Educational background: M.S. in Education (Saint John’s Univ.) and B.S. in Biology/Health Science/Nutrition (CUNY Brooklyn College)
Certified in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – active as mentor and coach (about.me).
In short: she’s a strategic, equity-minded leader with hands-on grit — New York through and through — turning brands into stories and campaigns.
