Born into a tight-knit Greek family in 1930, Marina Bulgari chose to follow in her grandfather's footsteps after completing her architectural and engineering studies at a Roman university. Joining the family business at 21, the young woman who would eventually launch Marina B learned artisan jewelry-making techniques at the hands of a true master. As a meticulous individual with a passion for her art, she developed several innovative features that were subsequently integrated into her designs, including spring-loaded clasps on necklaces and earrings with interchangeable gemstones. Marina Bulgari opted to leave her position as Chief Designer at Bvlgari in 1976 to form her own brand. Two years later, Marina B was born.
