Born and bred in Tanzania, between Dar-es-Salaam and Mwanza, emigrated with the family to London, England and finally settled in Madrid, Spain after spending about 8 years in Valladolid, Spain.
Cooking for the family and friends in one of my passions. Spanish, Indian, Thai and Japanese are my favourites but I do venture with some East African recipes. Probably I enjoy cooking because the wife will only let me open a bottle of RED wine while I am cooking at the weekends. I love good red wines from all over the globe, but my favourite reds are from the Ribera De Duero wine region in Spain.
Photography is a long time hobby, but to be honest I never took it seriously enough to make it a career.
In 2010, I discovered what would turn out to be almost an addiction. St. James' Way ( Camino de Santiago ), the pilgrimage routes, ( the most popular being the Camino Frances or French route ) to the shrine of the apostle St. James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saint are buried. It takes a whole 4 weeks to do the 500 mile walk, starting at either St Jean Pied de Port on the French side of the Pyrenees or Roncesvalles on the Spanish side. I still have to find 4 weeks to do the whole route, but I have done it in shorter stages of up to 2 weeks from León. I have made some of the best friends I have from different parts of the world on the Camino. My site on the Camino de Santiago : https://www.walk2santiago.com
