Baking a Cake

Baking a Cake

Me as a writer is like a baker baking a cake. It takes a little while to put everything together, but it's great once it's all done. Sometimes it takes a long time for me to think of topics to write about, like trying to find a recipe in a cookbook. The cookbook is my mind, and I have to look through all of the recipes until I find the right one to use.

I construct all of my ideas in my head, like putting the ingredients in the mixing bowl. As I mix the ingredients together, I add all of the elements and details to my story. When I put the cake in the oven, I finally put everything on paper. As the cake bakes that is when my story comes to life in the paragraphs I write.

But before you can decorate a cake, it needs to be cooled off. For the story, before you can complete it, it needs to be revised. In the time that the cake cools, I revise my paper. Once the cake is cool, you can ice and decorate it. Once the paper is revised, you can add any little details that are needed. When the cake is done, my paper is complete.
