Marissa Kings

Almost Archivist in Florida

I am a current Master of Library and Information Studies student with a concentration in Archival Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I expect to graduate in Spring 2016. I also hold a Master of Arts in Maritime Archaeology from the University of Southampton and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Flagler College.

I am presently employed in a public library, where, in addition to providing reference services and assisting with collections management, I am spearheading a community history project which will lead to the creation of a local history digital archive. I previously interned with the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum's archives, worked on a preventative conservation project with the Bodleian Libraries, and was the head volunteer with the archives of the University of Oxford Institute of Archaeology.

I am active in the Society of Florida Archivists, for which I am the current Newsletter Editor; the Society of American Archivists, where I am a member of the Students and New Archives Professionals and Public Library Archives roundtables; and the International Council on Archives.
