Marissa Prochaska
Student in Chicago, Illinois
I am a junior at Rollins College pursuing a career in sports communications. I will earn my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a concentration in public relations in Spring 2017. This past summer I interned for the Joliet Slammers Baseball Club in Joliet, IL. During my time at the Joliet Slammers I was a promotions intern and my duties included game day promotions, and public relations. I am passionate about the sports industry, and I have strong work ethic and time management skills. While pursuing my degree I became quite adept at time management as I was also an athlete and member of the Rollins volleyball team. Additionally, I held a position on the executive committee for my sorority in which I was responsible for fundraising and soliciting contributions as well as planning, organizing, and executing some of the chapters most prestigious events. Moreover, I have just started an internship with the Rollins College athletic communications department in Orlando, FL. Since I have experience in promotions, I have already been asked to assist the department with game day promotions during the basketball games. Furthermore, during this time I will help maintain the Rollin’s Athletics website, develop biographies for the sport’s teams, specifically the volleyball and basketball teams, and assist in editing videos and highlight packages. My immediate goal is to secure an entry-level position for a sports team working in game-day promotions or public relations in the Central Florida area.
