Mark Attanasio

Toronto’s Mark Attanasio is co-founder and managing partner of Hillcrest Merchant Partners, a Toronto merchant bank and venture capital firm focused on a number of industries, including healthcare, industrials, cannabis, electric metals, mining, gaming and technology.

Mr. Attanasio brings years ofexperience and expertise to his role at Hillcrest Merchant Partners. As an alumnus of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Mr. Attanasio began his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he gained hands-on experience in audit and advisory services, while earning his Chartered Accountant (CA,CPA) designation.

Mr. Attanasio went on to join National Bank Financial, spending seven years in their Corporate Financing and Mergers & Acquisitions group, then four years as Director of Global Equity Derivatives where he managed a proprietary trading portfolio of bank capital.

In 2014, Toronto’s Mark Attanasio was hired by Dundee Corporation as Executive Vice President of Merchant Banking, overseeing a portfolio of investments in multiple sectors.Mr. Attanasio subsequently became President of Dundee Capital Markets, where he managed all aspects of the capital markets business. Mr. Attanasio then led a management buyout of Dundee Capital Markets and became co-founder and CEO of newly-retitled Eight Capital, formerly known as Dundee Capital Markets.

During his career in the financial and investment industry, Mark Attanasio has gained significant expertise in early stage investing, and advising clients on raising growth capital, and mergers & acquisitions.

With this knowledge, in 2017, Mark Attanasio co-founded Hillcrest Merchant Partners alongside Toronto-based investor and business executive, Donato Sferra.
