Mark Heninger is an epically horrible tuba player, spent his youth on the mean streets of Bettendorf, Iowa, where he was immersed in family, friends, and football. But it was his great love of music that led him to into local clubs and playing the keyboard in various bands. Little did he know that the keyboard, and his love for programming them, would be entirely instrumental in shaping his life. After graduating from high school Mark chose to attend Luther College in Decorah, IA, Not because it was close to home, but because the campus boasted having one of the most advanced synthesizers built to date. His enthusiasm lent itself to helping him master it’s controls and teaching others how to use it.
After graduating from Luther College with a BA in Communications, Mark knew was time to head west. He moved to Los Angeles, found bands to gig with, played the local nightclub scene, and found other ways to immerse himself in the creative pulse of the city. Music, art, film…Mark went after all of it.
After the Northridge earthquake in 1994 Mark was able to secure a $5,000 investment bank loan riding on only 1% interest. He and his wife, Yvonne, discussed what they might do with the investment and found themselves having to choose between doing something with music, or technology. Ultimately they decided to go the technology route and DreamTank was born.
It was there that Mark honed his digital distribution and marketing experience and his small team started building ecommerce solutions and websites with video distribution. One thing led to another and that led Mark directly to Howard Stern. Mark’s company and technology took him from the airwaves to the internet. DreamTank built Howard a website and helped many other high profile entertainment and corporate properties gain success online.
Mark ultimately sold DreamTank and went on to start his current agency 11 Amps Agency (www.11AmpsAgency.com) .
