Mark Nguyen
Mark Nguyen
Mark first entertained a paying audience at the age of five.
His stage was a picnic table, his microphone was an ice cream scoop, and the gig was hosting a stuffed animal contest he and his mom organized for the neighborhood kids. Mark created his first character right then, and he's been rolling high on improv comedy ever since.
In the 'biz, Mark is best known as a producer and performer for "The 404s" improv comedy group, which specializes in performing improvised comedy shows at genre events such as comic cons, anime conventions, and sci-fi gatherings. In his career with The 404s, he's entertained thousands of people at events across Canada and the United States since 1998, from high school Japanese cultural festivals to packed halls at the 22,000+ attended Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo.
Mark has also performed with other improv teams in English and French, which he speaks fluently. Currently, between entertaining at annual shows around the country as an improvisor, master of ceremonies, event host and occasional murder mystery suspect, Mark also leads The 404s at their regular show "IJ@CK" - Improv Jam @ Cafe Koi - in downtown Calgary, aimed at "jamming" with theatre improvisors of all backgrounds and experiences from the local community.
From his home in Calgary, Alberta, Mark balances his improv life with a day job as a corporate account manager for ESRI Canada, the industry-leading provider of GIS software and solutions, and a happy home life with his wife Kathleen, daughter Kara and three very mischievious cats.
