Mark Irvin Ritchie is a communications strategist and institution builder whose work has moved across public affairs, international trade, media, and economic development in the United States, Nigeria, Namibia, South Africa, and Dubai. He is also an investor in the oil and energy sector with a strong interest in international development and long term infrastructure growth. His career has been shaped by civic leadership, spiritual study, and a belief that relationships built with honesty and purpose can move institutions and people forward.

Ritchie served as Director of Public Affairs and spokesman for the City of Knoxville under Mayor Victor Ashe after an award winning career in news reporting and radio production with programming syndicated across Southern markets. Those years in journalism and government gave him a grounded understanding of people, power, and communication in moments that mattered.

Today, as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Institutional Development for the U.S.-Africa Trade Commission, he works to strengthen commercial relationships and expand partnerships between American and African institutions, entrepreneurs, and investors. His work centers on trade, investment, and long term cooperation that creates shared opportunity across borders.

His worldview is deeply connected to heritage and study. Ritchie honors the legacy of his great great uncle, U.S. Senator Blanche Kelso Bruce of Mississippi, one of the most significant Black political leaders of the Reconstruction era, as well as his grandmother Pauline Lassic Manuel, who served the Montgomery Improvement Association during the Civil Rights Movement. Their example continues to shape his commitment to justice, leadership, and personal responsibility.

Ritchie completed certified paralegal training through Morehouse College and has spent years studying ecclesiastical law, constitutional frameworks, and the relationship between faith, governance, and human rights. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to understanding the systems that shape society and the principles that protect individual freedom.
