Born in 1967 in Portland, Oregon, Mark Struzan is a working graphic designer, and a fine art painter who loves writing poetry and indulging in critical thinking, and skepticism.

"I began developing a body of work in 1998. It started as a process of thinking about, and processing, the world and my interpretation of it. My paintings are as much a process of self exploration as the records of thought and the search for something greater than myself.

I draw primarily on painting as a means of expression but remain engaged as a graphic designer, photo and video editor. Poetry, however, is an altogether different process of expression and a way of thinking. It is the way I begin to process ideas and to make sense of the complexities and inconsistencies of the world I live. Both my design work and my poetry inform the process and content of my paintings."

Mark Struzan currently lives and maintains a studio in Portland, where he also works as a freelance graphic designer, and plays as a poet.
