Author and professor Mark Chae has written and edited a large number of articles and books throughout his career. In 2009, Mark Chae coauthored "The patient medication list: can we get patients more involved in their medical care?" with three other colleagues. Describing a study performed with 104 patients under the age of 40 living in an outpatient resident site, the article explained the relationships between patient and physician regarding the maintenance of medication lists. The article appeared in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Writing individual chapters in books as well, Mark Chae composed a chapter titled "Asian American Racial and Ethnic Identity: Update on Theory and Measurement," in 2009's Handbook of Multicultural Counseling. Also contributing to the 2010 anthology Culturally Responsive Counseling with Asian American Men, Dr. Chae collaborated with Sung Y. Chae to pen an article called "Asian American Men and Fatherhood: An Ecological Systems Perspective." In The New Jersey Journal of Professional Counseling, he discussed the connection between sex and race in "Gender and Ethnicity in Identity Formation." In an editing role, Mark Chae has worked with two other colleagues on the 2010 book Culturally Responsive Counseling with Asian American Men. Working as a full-time member of the editorial staff for several publications, Dr. Chae offers his talents to the Editorial Boards of Counseling and Values, the Journal of Counseling & Development, and the Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development.

In his teaching career, Mark Chae works at one if his alma maters, spending time as an Adjunct Professor of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy at Seton Hall University. He formerly served as an Associate Professor of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Earning his doctorate in psychology at Seton Hall University, Mark Chae also possesses a Master of Arts in Applied Psychology and a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University.
