Mark Freitas is President and CEO of Mark Edward Partners, an insurance brokerage firm with offices in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida. He launched his insurance brokerage firm in October 2010 and has since provided clients with exceptional service and quality insurance products. Prior to opening his own business, he was the President and COO of another insurance brokerage firm, Frank Crystal & Company in New York City.

Freitas attended the University of Connecticut School of Business, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business and Finance in 1981. While at school, he was a member of the UConn Huskies varsity hockey team and lettered in the sport. After graduating from the University of Connecticut, he completed several specialty programs at the acclaimed Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2008, Freitas was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree by Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, for his contributions to both the business world and his community.

Recognized as one of the top insurance executives in the United States, Mark Freitas lends his expertise to various organizations, speaking at industry meetings and contributing articles to professional journals. He has also provided expert testimony on fiduciary liability insurance to the U.S. Department of Labor.

When not leading his insurance brokerage firm, Mark Freitas is actively involved with his alma mater. He is on the Board of Directors of the UConn Foundation and has established two scholarship funds, the Mark E. Freitas Athletic Scholarship Fund and the Mark E. Freitas Endowment Fund at the School of Business. In February 2005, UConn honored his contributions as an athlete and benefactor by naming the new university ice rink, the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum, after him.

Aside from his work with the University of Connecticut, Freitas is a philanthropist who is passionate about giving back to his community. He founded The Mark and Mary Freitas Foundation to provide for those in need and seeks to better the quality of life for all. The foundation supports initiatives of education, medical research and community. Mark Freitas also serves as the Chair of the Development Committee of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights, an organization dedicated to generating positive change in oppressed communities around the globe.
