Mark J. Holterman, MD, has worked for nearly three decades building an accomplished career as a medical educator and pediatric surgeon. He earned a bachelor of arts in biology from Yale University before pursuing a doctor of medicine and doctor of philosophy in immunology from the University of Virginia (UVA). Subsequently, Mark J. Holterman, MD, completed his general surgery residency at UVA Health Sciences and trained in pediatric surgery during a fellowship at the University of Washington Children’s Hospital and Medical Center.

Over the next 15 years, Dr. Holterman served as an attending pediatric surgeon at numerous hospitals in the Chicago area. He maintains surgical responsibilities at Advocate Christ Children’s Hospital to this day. Since 2011, Dr. Holterman has held a concurrent position as a professor of pediatrics and surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. In this capacity, he is responsible for facilitating the education of both medical residents and students alike.

Dr. Holterman is an affiliate of such professional organizations as the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons and American Pediatric Surgical Association. He holds a medical license to practice in the state of Illinois, with additional board certification in Pediatric and General Surgery.
