Mark Kress
Mark Kress, 53, is a man of many talents. He has garnered considerable praise for his development of Toppik, a hair product that helps women and men disguise thinning hair. Inspiration for the product came when he saw a makeup artist attach real hair to an actor's head in order to camouflage his baldness. However, noticing that the trick was ineffective for everyday, real-world use, Kress was motivated to develop a product that would create realistic looking hair.
Thanks to the success of Toppik, Mark Kress has developed a whole line of products meant to disguise the effects of thinning hair. The product line, XFusion, currently features Hairline Optimizer and Fit-On Spray Applicator. Kress also launched the X5 Hair Laser, a medical device proven to improve hair growth. The company continues to seek out new ways to conceal the signs of hair loss.
Mark Kress began his career as an Account Executive with Grey Advertising in New York City, where he gained experience in and exposure to marketing, television, and radio. He eventually became the first to combine musical artists with advertisement sponsorships, working on innovative campaigns with Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan in partnerships with Coca Cola and M&M Mars. He also recognized the value of attaching celebrities to product lines and hired Joan Rivers to represent his line of jewelry on QVC, which she continues to do to this day.
Additionally, Mark Kress has found success as a theater producer, earning a Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award for his work on Johnny Guitar. He also has a producing credit for the movies Hysteria, starring Maggie Gyllenhall, and The Expatriate, which stars Aaron Eckhart.
