Mark Robertson
Mark Robertson of Seattle set his sights on becoming an educator early on, graduating from Western Washington University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education. Mr. Robertson committed himself to his studies, and four years later he received his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Howard University. While at Howard University, Mark Robertson published several works with the Institute for Urban Affairs and Research, including The Parent/Teacher Handbook on Sexual Abuse and Black Male in America Survival for the Future.
Mark Robertson holds a Continuing Principal & Teacher Certificate from the State of Washington and has functioned as an educator and administrator in many Seattle-area schools for over two decades. Mr. Robertson taught fifth and sixth graders for the Federal Way School District from 1983 to 1989 before accepting a role as Assistant Principal at Decatur High School. He served as Principal for Evergreen Primary School and Franklin High School, then took on an Assistant Superintendant position with the District of Columbia Public Schools in 1998. In 2000, Mark Robertson returned to Washington State as a Project Leader of Digital Resource Development for the Lake Washington School District. From 2008 to 2009, Mr. Robertson joined the Khoi Viet College of Travel and Hospitality as a Special Assistant and Director of English. He currently serves as President of Seattle’s Dolphin Associates, an education consultancy he founded in 1995. In addition to his duties at Dolphin Associates, Mark Robertson purses a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy at The University of British Columbia.
Over his prodigious career in education, Mark Robertson has maintained involvement with several charitable foundations and professional organizations. He has held memberships with the American Association of School Administrators, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Washington Association of Black School Educators. Mr. Robertson functions as one of the 27 acting Board Members of the Association of Washington School Principals, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to the needs of the elementary, middle, and high school principalship. Mark Robertson also maintains affiliations with Phi Delta Kappa and the Howard University Alumni Association, which strives to maintain an international network of support for the university.
