Growing up in the Catskill Mountains, Mark learned on the job from old-guard New York musicians based in the Woodstock area such as Lee Shaw, Eddie Diehl & Bishop O’Brien. His later mentors included alumni of The Jazz Messengers, The Tito Puente Orchestra, The Mose Allison Trio & The Horace Silver Quintet.

He expanded his musical palate while living in Brooklyn, playing shows around New York City with Amayo's FU Arkist-Ra (feat. members of The Dap-Kings & Antibalas) and touring Appalachia with The Defibulators.

While based in Berlin for over a decade, Mark cut his teeth as a recording artist, rubbing shoulders with giants at Butterama Recording Center. He spent his free time touring Europe, among others with Lord Mouse & the Kalypso Katz (Piranha), Jz James, and Rodeo.FM. Other collaborators have included garage rock pioneer Rudi Protrudi (The Fuzztones) & electronic wizard Stoneage Kid (The Whitest Boy Alive).
