Hailing from the Catskill Mountains, Mark learned on the job early, performing with old-guard New York musicians Lee Shaw, Eddie Diehl & Bishop O’Brien while growing up in the Woodstock area. Later mentors included alumni of The Jazz Messengers, Tito Puente's Orchestra, The Mose Allison Trio & The Horace Silver Quintet.
While based in Brooklyn, he expanded his musical palate, touring Appalachia with The Defibulators and playing around New York with Amayo's FU Arkist-Ra (feat. members of The Dap-Kings / Antibalas).
He then spent a decade cutting his teeth as a recording artist in Berlin while touring Europe, among others with Lord Mouse & the Kalypso Katz (Piranha) and Rodeo.FM. Other Berlin projects featured garage rock pioneer Rudi Protrudi (The Fuzztones) & electronic wizard Stoneage Kid (aka Sebastian Maschat of The Whitest Boy Alive).
Since his recent homecoming to New York, collaborators have included songwriters Kate Prascher & Francesca Hoffman, Mario Rincon & Perry Foster as well as Woodstock-based indy-folk band Bluestone Quarry.
