I tell stories for a living; those that compel people feel a certain way or take a certain action that achieves concrete objectives. I also lead through smart, strategic thinking that results in excellent execution. My enthusiasm, work ethic, energy and desire to motivate and empower others results in a collaborative environment in which hard work turns into results. I offer a vision that defines objectives and outcomes, creates change and inspires people to follow through examples of creative and strategic thinking.

I have served as a graduate-level college professor at Georgetown University and the University of Maryland teaching public relations courses, and am the author of a book, "Starting Your Career as a Social Media Manager," published by Allworth Publishing in September 2012.

I currently provide senior-level public affairs and communications counsel to National Cancer Institute as well as serve as the Institute-wide social media lead.

Previously, I was the Director of International Corporate Affairs at Alibaba Group in Hong Kong, the world's most valuable e-commerce firm, where I directed communications outreach, social media, crisis communications and served on the IPO communications team.

Prior to that, I was the first-ever Director of New Media at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC. I created and executed the Commission’s social media strategies and tactics, including creating and managing platforms like Twitter, YouTube, Facebook as well as audience-specific micro Web sites. I was also involved heavily in the Commission’s public affairs and investor outreach activities.

Prior to the SEC, I had more than 12 years of public relations and public affairs affairs agency experience as a Senior Vice President at Fleishman-Hillard, a Vice President at APCO Worldwide, and a Director at a boutique online public relations firm in Washington, DC.
