Dr. Mark E. Van Wormer

Dr. Mark E. Van Wormer is a reputed and certified physician with over three decades of medical experience in family practice, diagnostic imaging in medical sonography and CT imaging. Mark Van Wormer’s outstanding innovation and research on an Ultrasound Driven Acoustically Guided Angioplasty Catheter has earned him a patent (#5,259,837 November 9, 1993 “Acoustically Enhanced Catheter”) from the United States Patent Office. In the course of his career, Dr. Mark Van Wormer has held titles such as Director, Medical Director, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Currently he is director of economic development in Clayton New Mexico. He is in charge of all economic development in the town of Clayton New Mexico and Union County New Mexico. Since 2009, he has been playing a crucial role as Economic Development Director at Union County Community Development Corporation, attracting, coordinating, and enhancing business activities for Clayton New Mexico and Union County, with an aim to boost the economy. Mark Van Wormer’s noble mission is to make Clayton perfect for industrial warehousing and manufacture and distribution. Mark Van Wormer is an ARDMS certified echocardiographer, and vascular technologist. Mark also holds Board Certification in AntiAging Medicine from the A4M. He had been in charge of clinical care of at least 30 in patient elderly residents at the local Rest Home Facility for a period of over 25 years. Dr. Van Wormer is certified as a level III CT Angiography reader, having trained on Philips CT Spiral CT Imaging Software. Mark Van Wormer personally brought three generations of CT Imaging to Clayton New Mexico through development of the Union County Medical Laser Surgery and Diagnostic Imaging Center. Mark Van Wormer was placed in Clayton New Mexico in 1981 by the National Health Service Corps as a primary care physician in a Rural Health Manpower Shortage Area. Mark E Wormer constructed a large family practice facility and enhanced services by bringing in three generations of CT, color flow vascular sonography, temporary and permanent pacemaker implants, and high level cardiovascular care screening and treatment program. Dr. Van Wormer constructed the cardiovascular laboratory at Union County General Hospital. Dr. Van Wormer has earned his Bachelor’s degree from Hampden-Sydney College and MD from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He holds Doctorate from Medical College of Virginia.
