Music was my first love - flute, voice, piano - and I have a BA in Music Education. Then language - I spent 4 years in El Salvador, initially with the Peace Corps, then on my own, teaching music in Spanish. When I returned to the US, I completed an MA in Hispanic Linguistics and taught Spanish at the high school and college levels. Along came computers and the Internet and I was hooked, doing projects with my Spanish students and teaching other language teachers what I was discovering. I have done the coursework for two PhDs: one in curriculum and instruction, the other in professional studies (looking at teacher preparation for online instruction). I now still teach technology to other language teachers, working as the web coordinator at the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) at the University of Minnesota.
In my freetime, I love taking photos of the flowers in my garden, playing on the computer, reading science fiction fantasy, and doing music with lots of different people.
