Marler Spence

Doi Saket, Chiang Mai, Thailand

In 2013, I moved from Hainan, China to Chiang Mai Province, Thailand and got married. I am a retired bamboo farmer still growing some of my favorite species of bamboo, palms and other tropicals.

Lou Gehrig said, "I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth". Me, too, partly because for years I supported myself and created a retirement income doing what I loved to do, growing bamboo. When your hobby becomes your profession, well, it just doesn't get any better than that. But what made it even sweeter was it came after a tormenting ten years of debilitating depression which ended as I rediscovered my spirit and my path. Also lucky am I for having survived years with myeloma cancer--no Chemo, just herbs, diet and supplements. And most of all I am fortunate for finding Kimmi, my wife since April 2013, after 70 years of being single. Patience, my friends, and let your dreams guide you!

UPDATE September 2015:

Marriage to Kimmi is not working. I am now wanting a divorce. I have moved back to China. Oh well, live and learn. Looking forward to being single again.
