Marle Tyrrell

Melbourne, Victoria Australia

Hello! I am a recent Monash University graduate, finishing at the end of 2013 with a Bachelor of Journalism (Communications) degree. My last year of university was spent at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, Canada's premier journalism school. There, I acquired experience in radio, print and television journalism as well as photo journalism, an unexpected but invaluable bonus to the year.

The rest of my degree was spent in Melbourne, and I completed several internships as I explored different areas and approaches to publishing. I traveled to Auckland, New Zealand to complete a short internship at No. Magazine. I spent 3 months as a intern at SPOOK Magazine (and continue to contribute as a writer) and then spent 6 months working as a community campaigns intern, and later, a film festival intern at Amnesty International Victoria. Finally, I was an editorial intern at Universal Magazines where I worked on and assisted with several publications.

At Carleton University, I continued to write and report, contributing to Centretown News and The Charlatan, Carleton's independent student newspaper.

The varied experiences during my degree left me with an insatiable drive to become a journalist, as well as a strong thirst for travel, a deep appreciation of my own Australian culture and a unique understanding of Canadian culture.

Now happily back at home in Melbourne, I'm looking for a job or internship at a local or statewide newspaper, as news writing is where my passion lies.
