I enjoy learning. I spent 10 years in finance IT (NYC) operations and compliance before deciding to change career paths to healthcare and completed nursing school at Johns Hopkins in December of 2013. Previously, I facilitated integration of financial trading systems, billing, human resources, fixed income platforms, and decision support utilizing a broad range of technologies. In my compliance role, I acquired certification for IT risk and possess a keen understanding of regulatory, legal, and security issues. In my spare time, I have at least half a dozen DIY projects in various stages of completion and a small vegetable garden in summer. I have become very active in my Baltimore neighborhood first by getting City government support and agreement to restrict abused parking to residents and personally replacing some of the dead side walk trees with urban appropriate selections. This has inspired a couple residents to become involved in caring for the community. Though we are a small and growing ad hoc group, we have created an association, and opened an association bank account, and applied for a Parks & Peoples Green Grant. All of this progress has occurred in just 12 months. Our intent is to develop the association into an accountable and transparent 501(c)(3). Along the way, it is our ambitious goal to develop a 2.3 acre unfinished park into a vibrant community hub with a small multi-purpose field area for children, a dog run, and a quiet sitting area all of which will be monitored through surveillance cameras perched on homes around the park.
