Marlon Paz
Marlon Paz has been a leader in the Latino legal community and a rarity in the financial services industry. An experienced attorney, educator, and leader, Mr. Paz began his distinguished career at private law firms before accepting a position in the Division of Trading and Markets of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As Special Counsel, then Senior Special Counsel to the Director, he worked on regulatory and enforcement issues, ultimately playing a key role in developing the SEC's positions, including its initiatives related to the crisis in the financial markets.
For his leadership and accomplishments, Marlon Paz has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential U.S. Hispanics by Hispanic Business magazine and as one of the Top 20 Latino Leaders Under 40 by Latino Leaders magazine. He has received many other accolades, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Award from the SEC, the Regional President of the Year Award from the Hispanic National Bar Association, and the Leadership Award from the Hispanic National Bar Foundation. Earlier in his career, he was recognized as a Rising Legal Star by the Hispanic Bar Association of DC.
Marlon Paz is a Past President of the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia and a former National Vice President of the Hispanic National Bar Association. He is a Director and Chair of the Governance Committee of the Hispanic National Bar Foundation and a Director of the Latino Student Fund in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Paz attended Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, where he received a B.A. in Philosophy and served as President of the Student Government and as a student trustee on the Board of Trustees. He completed an M.A. at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, and a J.D. at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he co-chaired the International Law Society. At Georgetown University Law, Mr. Paz studied securities and financial regulation, earning a Master of Laws.
