Marie Poncé is an award winning actor of stage,film and television, published writer, singer, American Indian hoop dancer(Lucayo-Taino/Cherokee), costume designer, administrator, acting and artsinstructor and program developer, documentary producer, social marketing expertempowering non-profit arts organizations, who grew up in 8 countries and 7states. Her father a Danforth Fellow,uncle Grand Sire Archcon of the Grand Boulé and her grandfather built landmarkhouses in Key West and she grew up among known artists and activists likeSidney & Juanita Poitier, Earl Graves, Ruby Dee, Betty Shabazz, Shirley Dubois(her godmother).
Performing credits include: a Solo performance inthe Almost Summer Celebration Wagner Park with NMAI and The Jewish Museum,SummerStage’s Harlem Caravan, dir. George Faison, Spielberg’s new Russian Spymovie with Tom Hank’s. She partnered a Healing/Structured Improvisation programwith Restoration and Healing Inc. in Monrovia, Liberia, adjunct professor atNYU Tisch School of the Arts and Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and programdirector/instructor/marketing/wardobe at The Negro Ensemble Company and founderof Open Artist NYC, www.necartz.com, the upcoming OANYC, SAG Conservatory, NECMonthly Meet at Riverside providing professional artists and arts organizationswith free information, resources and mentoring.

Premiering as “Nellie Monk” in Laurence Holder’s Monk ‘n’ Bud atTheater for the New City and traveled to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival,Scotland and Cairo Opera House at The International Festival for ExperimentalTheatre, Egypt in 2002. Marie is writer, costume designer and traditional artsand accent coach for her play The Roots of Rap, with an 18 year run atInterborough Repertory Theatre.
