Maroussia Lévesque

Doctor of Juridical Science SJD Candidate Harvard in Cambridge, MA

I am an AI governance researcher and legal scholar focused on how artificial intelligence is regulated and how power is distributed across the AI ecosystem. My work examines AI regulation, market concentration, and the role of technical standards in translating high-level principles into real, enforceable systems.

I am currently a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) candidate at Harvard Law School. Alongside my doctoral research, I serve as a Senior Fellow at the Center for International Governance Innovation and as a Graduate Student Affiliate and Fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Since 2022, I have co-led the AI Governance Working Group at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, where I collaborate with researchers, technologists, and policymakers.

My background bridges technology, law, and public institutions. I hold a BFA in Computation Arts from Concordia University and a JD from McGill Law, followed by graduate legal studies at Harvard. Previously, I worked on Quebec’s public inquiry into electronic surveillance, led AI and human rights work at Global Affairs Canada, and clerked for the Chief Justice of the Quebec Court of Appeal.

I also volunteered as legal counsel with Lawyers Without Borders in Haiti. Outside of my research, I am an amateur hot sauce enthusiast.
