Professionally I am a network administrator and information technology/services technician for public safety and emergency management services. My previous position was also IT, but for the automotive industry. I have a degree in the field of Information Technology, with a concentration in networking, several certifications, and more than 8 years of experience.
Personally I am the father of a boy and a girl, ages 3 and 6, respectively (at the moment of writing). I have a beautiful wife, and own my own home in Maryland.
On my free time I enjoy reading science, technology, and philosophy books, blogs, and other feeds. My love of science has provoked me to study it at any given free moment. And consequentially, my love of technology has catalyzed me to persue this field.
I also like to tinker; I am a tinkerer. My hobbies include making time to tinker, as I love to figure out how things work - and build things. Whether it be something out of wood, such as a shelf for my shed, or an FTP media server for marketing at work, I enjoy learning how something works and doing it.
Learning something new always makes my hobby lists; I try to find time to learn something new. I simply enjoy learning how systems of different types work - between information systems for enterprise purposes, or planetary and enviromental systems, to how one mollusk can have 3 hearts pumping in tandem.
I also love to read science fiction. The latest books I have finished include the first three Dune books, Asimovs 'The Foundation;' and on my plate up next is 'I, Robot.' Non-Fiction titles I have recently finished include Steven Pinkers 'The Blank Slate;' Amit Goswami's 'Conscious Universe;' and Richard Dawkins' 'The Greatest Show On Earth.'
I hope this small description of myself has helped any inquisitor to formulate a minute, yet unique, perception of my general charactoristics.
