Martha Tesfalul

Philadelphia, PA

Martha Tesfalul is a medical student in between her third and fourth year at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She received her BA in Sociology with a minor in Health Policy from Harvard University in 2009, after which she spent her summer doing mental health research in Eritrea. In the summer of 2010, Martha went to South Sudan to support medical education at the University of Juba College of Medicine. She is currently a Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and doing research in Health Informatics and Telemedicine in Botswana, where she is spending the majority of the 2012-13 school year. During her time in medical school, she has been blessed to receive the Johns Hopkins Medicine Scholarship, Association of American Medical College's Herbert W. Nickens Scholarship and the National Medical National Medical Association's Emerging Scholars Patti LaBelle Scholarship.
