Matthew Radford
Project Manager, Consultant, and Small Business Owner in Leeds, UK
The Fight Co business was established in 2011 when Matthew Radford saw a gap in the market and from that point onwards, he decided to tap into that gap and start his own business selling and supplying martial arts equipment. Matthews interest in Thai boxing started over a decade ago when he started to train with a local Muay Thai gym and his passion and love of the sport spurred him onto making the decision to make the vision of “Fight Co” a reality.
So how did it all begin? Well, from a bedroom in his home (much to his wife’s dismay) Matthew started to stock the leading Muay Thai brands namely Fairtex, Twins and Sandee and produced a basic catalogue style website for customers to view the products available along with selling on eBay. Initially, Matthew ran Fight Co alongside working a full-time job however, as Fight Co grew it became apparent that the business would require all of Matthews time to grow the business and so Matthew took a leap of faith to hand his notice in at his current employment and invest all his time and energy into the business. Thankfully, the leap of faith was successful and over the 8 years that Fight Co has been running, Matthews determination and ambition to succeed has enabled Fight Co to become an established, respected, professional company selling and supplying martial arts equipment across the globe.
Whilst initially Fight Co was solely supplying equipment in line with Thai boxing, it wasn’t long before the business diversified to carry other martial art sports equipment including; boxing, karate, judo, mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jui Jitsu to name but a few.
Eight years on and Fight Co is now the leading UK and worldwide supplier and has supplied training apparel to some of the top sporting names within the UK, this along with an outstanding reputation has enabled Fight Co to be one of the top suppliers available on the market. The line of brands that Fight Co hold is second to none and whether you are looking for an elite brand such as Cleto Reyes or a budget brand such as Blitz, Fight Co will be able to cater for every individual’s needs.
The question is where to next for Fight Co? Matthew is adamant that Fight Co will continue to grow from strength to strength and that complacency is not an option so whilst Fight Co is highly regarded and successful, there is still room for improvement and growth.
