David Martin

Student in Columbus, Ohio

Hi! My name is David Martin and I am a student at The Ohio State University.

The StrengthsQuest report stated that my top strength was Harmony. Individuals that score high in this area value agreement in social settings and do their best to prevent conflict with others. I identify with this strength because I do my best to make sure that other people feel valued and not as if they are being overlooked, which is generally one of the biggest causes of conflict in a group setting. Academically, in group work a high degree of harmony is required in order for optimal work to be produced, and I feel that I am good at ensuring that every member feels as if they are valued. Personally, my ability to create harmony with others helps me to establish good relationships with them, leading to lasting friendships.

The "Dimensions of Wellness" assignment demonstrated parts of my overall health I do well in and parts I can work on to improve. I scored highly in dimensions such as "Career" and "Social," and I learned that I can take steps to improve my "Creative" and "Spiritual" health. I valued this assignment because it clearly laid out the things that I do well and the things that I need to work on in order for my Wellness to be the best it can be.

While researching my "Dream Job," I found an in depth look at becoming a Sports Dietitian. My findings included an overview of the career, courses I am required to pass, and other steps I need to take in order to procure a job in this field. This information will be very helpful in the future as I am planning classes and looking for a permanent job.

Throughout my first semester at Ohio State, I have learned many valuable lessons, and I hope to continue to grow as a person throughout the remainder of my college education.
