Martin Baum

I am Martin Baum; a blogger, satirist, playwright, and after my book To Be or Not To Be, Innit, a Yoof-Speak Guide to Shakespeare became an overnight best-seller, I am also an author. I made the Bard fun and accessible for a younger generation who just didn’t get what William Shakespeare was all about.

Soon after I was signed by Bafta-nominated Greg Smith, legendary producer of hit shows Jolson and Buddy, to write a play inspired by my book for London's West End and Broadway taking in a full touring production of the campus circuit .

However, after Greg's untimely death, the show was put on hold but – at last - will now be touring here in the UK in 2017.

I have always found Shakespeare the man fascinating. After all, as a director, producer and writer, Shakespeare was the ultimate Elizabethan luvvy with a flair for self-publicity and, as an artiste, an almost certain loathing of criticism.

These views and others have enabled me to write, blog and broadcast a controversial yet unique insight into the character of Britain’s greatest playwright.

But as for the play, well, although it's happening over here, but because Shakespeare has a huge American fan base, I would welcome the opportunity to hear from people interested in producing the show in the States, as was originally intended.

Oh, and as a by the by, I live very close to the sea and I write from a beach hut.
